Breeding my own food for my clown knife?
How can i start breeding my own food for my clown knife? im worried about what the pet shop is doing with their feeders cuz by the time i get home and put them in a bowl half are dead.
question is:
what do i need to breed feeder fish? how long does it take? easiest, best fish to breed that he will eat?

Ok, well fist off its a great Idea to breed your own feeders, Pet store feeders are so stressed that then Often carry parasites. Garlic is actually a really good killer of internal parasites but I would go by an off the shelf medication.
Anyways your Ghost knife will eat any fish that’s smaller than him mostly. Easy fish to breed are Guppy’s, Mollies, Sword tails and Platties. You ghost knife will eat shrimp as well, so you can try and breed some crayfish or ghost shrimp.
Angelfish are another easy to breed fish and Also Convict Cichlids although Convicts are tuff little guys and its not uncommon that some won’t get eaten and live side by side with your ghost knife. I have a tank full of piranhas I feed Convicts and a few have actually lived and feed with the piranhas on other convicts lol.
To breed fish you need a tank for the parents to pair of in and a tank to raise the fry in, 2 10 gallon tanks would work. Then you just need heaters for each and sponge filters hooked to air pumps. You will have to cycle the tanks obviously and you will have to learn how to hatch brine shrimp and feed the fry that so they live. In the mean time don’t feed your ghost knife anymore feeders, feed him chunks of fresh fish instead.
